Langdon Hills Nature Reserve
A Wonderworld of discovery for all the family.
Langdon Hills Nature Reserve offers a wide range of activities throughout the year. Whatever your interest there is always something of interest to see or do.
The nature reserve includes hundreds of pathways that criss-cross through the beautiful countryside park, which you can tackle on foot, cycle or horseback and give occasional stunning views of the surrounding flower rich meadows in the spring and the London skyline. There's also a 1930's built 'Plotlands' cottage, called 'The Haven', that is preserved today as a museum and must be seen by people of all ages. The museum also includes a bomb shelter at the rear and many items from the era, including a wind-up gramaphone that still works! Entry to the museum is free, however a voluntary donation will help to maintain the museum for years to come - You'll find the donation box in the kitchen. A visit to the Plotlands area reveals the remains of cottages and bungalows built between 1900 and 1940.
Guided tours by foot or cycle are available at certain times through the year and there are also family nature days and wildlife discovery days. In addition there are also a Junior Nature Club for children aged 7 - 12 and a Youth Ranger Service for youngsters aged 13 - 16 - both of which meet once per month.
